Valocity Agri mapping updates

Agri mapping tools have been improved to provide a cleaner experience.

Mapping tool updates: what's changed

We've updated the mapping software behind your maps. This article covers the key changes to the drawing and measurement tools, so you know what to expect the next time you draw on a map.

Drawing tools

Editing and deleting shapes no longer needs a separate mode. Previously, you had to switch into a dedicated edit mode or delete mode before you could change or remove a shape on the map. Now, you can select any drawn shape directly and change or delete it straight away.

Previously, 3 individual steps were required
Now, just 2 steps allow all levels of editing

The toolbar previously included separate edit and delete mode icons (top, bottom of toolbar). These have been removed, since editing and deleting now happen directly on the shape (bottom).

Deleting a shape

Select the shape, then press the Delete or Backspace key on your keyboard to remove it.

Creating a shape

Circle: click once on the map to start drawing, move your mouse to set the size, then click again to finish.

Text: click anywhere on the map to place a text box, rather than dragging out a rectangle first. You can resize the text box at any time after placing it. Text boxes also now have a white background, so they're easier to read against the map underneath.

Pin: the pin marker is now a small dot rather than a drop-shaped pin. There's also no placeholder pin shown while you're deciding where to place it. Simply click on the map and the pin is placed there.

Editing a shape

You can now click directly on a drawn shape to edit it, without switching to a separate edit mode first.

Lines, polygons, and squares

Drag the pink handles around a shape to resize it.

Circles

Resize a circle either by dragging a corner of the surrounding square, or by dragging the white handle on the circle's edge. Both increase or decrease the circle's size.

Text

Drag a text box to resize it. The font size scales automatically with the box. Zooming the map in or out doesn't automatically resize a text box, so you may need to resize it manually after zooming.

Measurement labels

Previously, a shape's measurement appeared in a separate popup window. Now, each shape shows its measurement directly on the map, in a small pink label that appears as soon as you finish drawing it. Depending on the shape, this label might show distance, area, perimeter, circumference, or coordinates.

Please note: map rotation is not fully supported for measurement labels. Because the label is added on top of the map rather than being a native part of the mapping software, rotating the map will cause labels to sit in the wrong position. We recommend avoiding map rotation while working with measurement labels for now.
